When I got married, I left this song up to my then future husband to pick. Really, it was a song to represent him, so why not let him choose what song he wanted to walk down the aisle to? Not only was it one less item from my plate, but it was a great way to get him involved in at least one aspect of the wedding. I know most men “don’t care”, but I made him care. I made it become a task of his, I made it important, and honestly I probably threatened him if he didn’t do it! lol!
In the end, he chose Good Looking Boy by The Who. The Who is one of his favourite bands of all time, this song is mostly appropriately fitting for a wedding, and my hubby is a good looking boy! So I said sure, and this song became his on his wedding day. Cere
When it comes time to choose which song you’d like your groom to walk down the aisle to, a few things to consider might be if the song is solely for the groom, or if the groomsmen and/or officiant might be walking down the aisle as well. I try to discourage the use of TOO MANY songs used during the precessional, and stick to using no more than 3; one for the groom/groomsmen/officiant, one for the bridesmaids/flower girl/ring bearer and one for the bride. Another thing to consider when choosing the right song, is a song that represents the groom, in any way really. It could be by a band he likes, the lyrics may be fitting, or it could just be a favourite song.
If you choose to go traditional, all the power to you! That probably makes song choices a lot easier! But if you are choosing something different than the norm, I do encourage you to try leave this one up to your groom! He may surprise you with something totally fitting! If you are still having trouble deciding, check out my list of songs below or listen to them in iTunes here! These are songs that clients have used, songs that we recommend, and songs that we have found are recommended by others through our research. Even though this is the first song to be played at a wedding, his song will probably be forgotten by most by the end of the night. It is also likely that the groom’s song will be overshadowed by the bride’s song, so don’t stress too much on this song choice! Enjoy listening to the songs below, I hope they inspire you and help guide you through your song choices!
